A Tenant's Turmoil and a Response for Rambo!!!

In today's blog I will be providing a preview of the upcoming Arsenal home fixture and a review of a movie. That might partly explain the strange title I have chosen.  The Tenant refers to the name of the movie I am going to review and Rambo is the nick name for one of our players who was horribly injured during our last match at Stoke.

Last Saturday Arsenal FC had a horrible outing at Stoke (we won 3 - 1) where we lost one of our very promising midfielder Aaron Ramsey for rest of the season (probably longer) due to a very stupid tackle. He was developing very well this season and chipped in with his quota of goals too. However thuggish English defender Ryan "He is not that type of lad" Shawcross did a leveler on him to cause severe multiple fractures to Ramsey's right foot. He has had 2 fractures, one to his tibia and another to his fibula and expected to be out for atleast 6 months. I wish him (on behalf of all football fans) the most speediest of speedy recovery and all our thoughts are on his well being and ultimate return to the team.

With this header I can start my preview for Arsenal vs Burnley to happen at our Emirates Stadium. As the title says we need a response for Rambo (Ramsey's nick name) and it should send a message to all the teams out there in the premiership that we will stand up this time and fight till the end for ourselves and now for our Rambo. The squad is obviously missing  Ramsey(Multiple Fracture), Van Persie (Ankle), Gallas (Calf), Vela (Match Fitness), Sol (Groin) and Song (Suspension). The rest are available and that should be too much to handle for Burnley a team who are in the relegation spot. Burnley have never won away this season and they have one of the worst records in the premiership with 43 goals shipped through their leaky defense away from home. Whatever team Brian Laws puts up at Emirates it will be tested by the Arsenal and they will have to handle the pacy gunners and "Do it for Aaron" campaigner's. Whatever happens in the match we should win it quite comfortably by 2 - 3 goals. My take a 4 - 1 for Arsenal.

Coming to second part of my blog today I will provide a review of a psychological thriller starring Roman Polanski. The name of the movie is "Le locataire" (The Tenant). This movie can be described as a part of loose trilogy with Rosemary's Baby and Repulsion. Well the rumour is that Roman was upset by the way his lead actor was portraying Trelkovsky and decided to do the role himself to show how he wanted Trelkovsky to be. Strangely there is no mention of his name in the actor's list. He is however credited for writing and directing the movie.

The story line is about a meek and shy bureaucrat called Trelkovsky renting an apartment in Paris, but strangely the earlier owner committed suicide from the same apartment and is still struggling for her life in the hospital. His eagerness to get the apartment and curiosity to know what is the current state of the previous tenant(Simone) in the hospital leads him many awkward moments with Simone's friends. Once Simone passes away he gets the apartment and that is when Trelkovsky starts noticing all strange occurrences happening to him and around him. Also interestingly his apartment doesn't have a bathroom and it is situated outside the apartment and is to be shared with other houses on the same floor. This whole setup leads to a fantastic build up of suspense, paranoia, claustrophobia for the lead character, and finally up to a totally unexpected twist in the movie. For the movie's sake I cannot give out the twist but it is really a masterful change of plot.

Roman Polanski as Trelkovsky

The acting credits in the movie is definitely aced by Roman himself as Trelkovsky, Isabelle as Stella, Melvyn as Monsieur Zy, Shelley Winters as the concierge and other minor actors. The movie's apartment also plays a major role in displaying the claustrophobic environment Trelkovsky has been living in (both in real and psychologically). The supernatural beauty of the setting makes the whole apartment wonderfully attractive and woefully terrifying at the same time.Roman is in my opinion the master of these low budget slowly unfolding psychological horror films. It started with Repulsion continued with Rosemary's Baby and now extended to Le locataire. Another fantastic feature is Roman showing he is as much a force in front of the camera as much he is behind it.

This movie can be either purchased via Amazon .
